After the show with Coperni’s robots at Paris Fashion Week went “viral,” the fast-fashion products quickly hit the market. First up is a product that no one expected to be produced, a new bag that may not seem entirely new as it adopts the classic Swipe style that has been previously released, but this time with materials dating back to the Stone Age.

Named the Mini Meteorite Swipe Bag, this is a design product by two creative directors aiming to depict “a moon fossil falling to Earth 55,000 years ago, found in France in 1968 and engraved in 2023.” A seemingly impractical accessory, but for those who can afford it, it appears to be a unique collectible item combining archaeology and fashion.

Coperni’s bag is a small gray stone bag and part of a limited edition made from a meteorite that fell to Earth 55,000 years ago (certified 100% authentic by the Theatrum Mundi research and testing center). Each bag is handmade, so the shape may vary depending on the meteorite piece and they are made to order, potentially from different locations. After being delivered to Coperni’s workshop, they are crafted by artisans at the Semar factory in Italy.

The cheapest price for a bag starts from 40,000 euros, and this figure may vary depending on the meteorite used to make the bag, the waiting time to complete one bag is 6 weeks, and transactions cannot be canceled.

At the Fall/Winter 2022 show, Meyer designed a bag made entirely of glass for Doja Cat and Tinashe. Kylie Jenner also used a special edition, making the bag “hot” on social media.

This isn’t the first time Arnaud Vaillant and Sébastien Meyer have used a unique trick to promote Coperni’s products. According to Vogue Business magazine, the similar fog dress that Bella Hadid wore last season was part of a very specific marketing strategy that Rachel Tashjian unfriendly called a “gimmick” in Harper’s Bazaar. But it has helped the brand achieve particular success, especially attracting the attention of Gen Z and on TikTok, as well as doubling profits in 2021. In addition to minimalist bag and clothing collections, Coperni has some quirky works that attract attention on Instagram as well as the public, in an endless loop thanks to social media interaction.
