MAPPA has affirmed that the third and final installment of the season will feature just two episodes; the first being a one-hour-long special (effectively a brief anime film). The first episode of the third segment will commence airing on March 3rd with the second episode slated to be released at some point in 2023, though the studio has not yet given a precise release date.

The anime series Attack on Titan has had inconsistent episode counts over its various seasons. The first season was made up of 25 episodes, while the second season only had 12 episodes. For the third season, the studio changed course and divided it into two parts. The final season took an even further step and was broken down into three parts, leading some in the fandom to believe that it was being dragged out too long. Nonetheless, fans are hoping to receive a satisfactory conclusion to the series by the end of the year.
