Exciting news for fans of ‘Station 19’ as ABC confirms the continuation of Seattle’s fearless team of firefighters.
In a statement released on Tuesday, ABC declared the renewal of the Grey’s Anatomy spinoff series for its sixth season. Krista Vernoff, the executive producer and showrunner of the show, will maintain her role for the forthcoming season.
“It’s an honor to narrate the stories of our courageous first responders, who, both on-screen and in real life, risk their lives daily to ensure our safety,” expressed Vernoff, 50. “I am deeply grateful to Disney and ABC for the early renewal of Season 6 of ‘Station 19!'”
She continued, “This renewal is a testament to the remarkable work of our talented ensemble, crew, writers, and creative team, as well as the unwavering support of our dedicated fans who tune in faithfully each week.”
The renewal of ‘Station 19’ follows ABC’s announcement of a 19th season renewal for ‘Grey’s Anatomy.’ Craig Erwich, president of Hulu Originals and ABC Entertainment, emphasized that these renewals provide “more crossover opportunities and an exhilarating night of must-watch television.”
Speaking specifically about ‘Station 19,’ Erwich added, “The gripping narratives and devoted fan base that ‘Station 19’ continues to cultivate underscore the relentless dedication of Krista Vernoff and the incredibly skilled cast and crew.”
Created by Stacy McKee, ‘Station 19’ made its debut on ABC in 2018. The action-packed drama chronicles the daily experiences of the individuals stationed at Firehouse Station 19 in Seattle, Washington.
The cast includes Jaina Lee Ortiz, Jason George, Grey Damon, Barrett Doss, Jay Hayden, Okieriete Onaodowan, Danielle Savre, Boris Kodjoe, Stefania Spampinato, and Carlos Miranda.
Currently in the midst of its fifth season, ‘Station 19’ faced production delays due to the highly transmissible Omicron variant of COVID-19, as reported by TV Line following the airing of its winter finale in December. The publication revealed on January 5 that both ‘Station 19’ and ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ would resume shooting on Wednesday amidst the ongoing challenges posed by the pandemic.
