For the second time in his career, Messi, aged 35, has triumphed as the victor of the award, outshining numerous competitors including Kylian Mbappé and Karim Benzema, both of whom had remarkable campaigns.

Messi not only ended La Albiceleste’s prolonged wait for a title but also exceeded all other players with his remarkable performance. He was awarded the Golden Ball of the World Cup after recording seven goals and three assists in seven matches.

In his fifth World Cup appearance, he achieved the feat of scoring in all of Argentina’s knockout-round matches, including two goals in the final against France, helping them to victory on penalties.

Messi has tied the number of FIFA The Best Men’s Player awards with Cristiano Ronaldo and Robert Lewandowski, with the only other victor since 2016 being Luka Modrić in 2018.

This is yet another accolade to be added to Lionel Messi’s already impressive collection of trophies. The seven-time recipient of the Ballon d’Or has firmly established himself as one of the greatest players of all time, and this latest honor only serves to further his legendary status.

Despite reports that he was considering retirement from international soccer after the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, Messi has affirmed his intent to keep playing for Argentina for some time to come.
