Conscious clothing brand Lucy & Yak is set to launch the ‘Baring All’ collection, a photography print-based line aiming to normalize all types of nipples. Scheduled for release on January 18, the collection showcases a diverse range of bare breasts and chests featuring real-life models, including variations in size, mastectomies, and post-op trans chests. The initiative seeks to raise awareness about breast and chest censorship, often unfairly subjected to societal and social media restrictions.
The move comes as Lucy & Yak reveals that half of the UK population believes there is a need to normalize diverse breasts and chests. Additionally, two in five adults express their opinion that online censorship reinforces the perception of certain body parts as inherently sexual or offensive.
Lucy Greenwood, co-founder of Lucy & Yak, stated, “With this new collection, we want to show off the bodies that might usually be censored either online or in real life and get people talking by hearing other people’s stories.”
Encountering barriers in showcasing campaign photography publicly, Lucy & Yak aims to challenge taboos and provoke conversations on why some bodies and nipples are censored and sexualized while others are not.
The ‘Baring All’ collection includes the ‘Murphy’ jacket, ‘Beau’ trousers, ‘Benny’ T-shirt, a retro-inspired ‘Patty’ mini-dress, and gender-neutral underwear, including boxers. The brand will donate £1.50 from each product sold to the Coppafeel charity.
Through this bold initiative, Lucy & Yak seeks to contribute to the ongoing conversation around body positivity, diversity, and the destigmatization of natural body features.
