Starz is expanding the “Power” universe yet again with the announcement of its fourth spinoff, “Origins,” which will explore the early lives of beloved characters Ghost and Tommy. Set to be executive produced by Sascha Penn, known for his work on “Power Book III: Raising Kanan,” the series will be produced by Lionsgate TV.
The new installment joins the growing lineup of “Power” spinoffs, including “Power Book II: Ghost,” gearing up for its Season 4 premiere in 2024, “Power Book III: Raising Kanan,” currently in production for its fourth season, and “Power Book IV: Force,” currently filming its third season.
The original “Power,” which debuted in 2014, introduced viewers to James St. Patrick, portrayed by Omari Hardwick, a nightclub owner and powerful drug dealer known as “Ghost,” alongside his loyal friend Tommy, played by Joseph Sikora.
Kathryn Busby, Starz programming president, expressed excitement about the expansion of the “Power” universe, noting the immense connection fans have with the franchise. She anticipates that “Origins” will offer fresh and compelling storytelling while further evolving the dynamic world of “Power.”
Executive produced by series creator Courtney A. Kemp, along with Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson and Mark Canton, the “Power” franchise continues to captivate audiences with its intricate narratives and compelling characters. As Starz celebrates the upcoming 10-year anniversary of “Power,” the addition of “Origins” promises to deepen fans’ understanding of the series’ rich mythology while delivering new insights into the iconic characters of Ghost and Tommy.
