When Mahomes was tackled by Eagles linebacker T.J. Edwards late in the second quarter, the quarterback was contorted in agony on the field. Fans from Arizona to Kansas City and beyond were filled with trepidation. This was it, the moment they had feared. Backup quarterback Chad Henne even started to get ready.

Mahomes limped off to the sidelines where he received medical attention, but he didn’t stay put for long. With a combination of adrenaline and personal fortitude, the 24-year-old quickly got back on his feet and marched up and down the sideline to demonstrate that he wasn’t hurt.

Remarkably, it worked. Mahomes spurred the Chiefs to a remarkable, historic, and thrilling win – his second Super Bowl championship in four years.

Midway through the third quarter, Dallas Goedert made a remarkable catch along the sideline that was initially marked as a catch. As the play was being reviewed, AJ Brown from the Eagles and L’Jarius Sneed from the Chiefs exchanged words and took off their helmets. Brown was pointing at his chest while Sneed advanced toward him, but the Chiefs players came over to prevent any further conflict. The Eagles coaches then went over to Sneed and the Chiefs to mediate the disagreement. It seemed that Brown’s impressive stats – 78 yards and a touchdown – rattled Sneed, but in the end, he had the last laugh.

No one was sure if Nick Bolton had achieved the unlikely feat of scoring a second touchdown

When L’Jarius Sneed crunched Miles Sanders, resulting in the fumble being returned for a touchdown by Nick Bolton, there was minimal hype. The spectators tried to understand the events unfolding before their eyes, and the Chiefs started to show their joy timidly. A small cheer then arose from the crowd when the referees declared the play, yet it was still quite muted.

There was no warning that the call would be reviewed. When it was eventually overturned as an incomplete pass, most of the people in the stadium were taken aback. It was an unearthly scene, with both Eagles and Chiefs fanatics simultaneously expressing their happiness and dissatisfaction, despite not being entirely sure of the decision.

The atmosphere at the Super Bowl is akin to a soccer match, with the fans divided into two distinct sides, creating a unique ambiance

The setup of Super Bowl LVII had a distinct atmosphere of a soccer match, with the fan support split between the two teams. On the east side of the stadium, Chiefs supporters had the majority, and their loud cheering for Mahomes and their defense was palpable. Meanwhile, the west side was largely occupied by Eagles fans, the green of their team standing out against the red of the Chiefs.

Just under an hour before kick-off at the stadium in Arizona, chaos ensued in the concourse as security guards prevented fans from moving freely in an area usually open to them. Fans angrily shouted jeers and boos as they chanted “Let us through!” The commotion went on for about 35 minutes, with both Chiefs and Eagles supporters becoming increasingly agitated. Thankfully, the situation was eventually cleared, although it will be interesting to see how the NFL responds to this in the future. People around me were concerned about the potential for a hazardous event caused by the crowds pushing for space. In response, officials added dividers to the concourse to ensure the movement of people during the first quarter.
